28 Weeks Pregnant – Baby Number Two

How many weeks?

28 weeks pregnant (though I’m actually 29+1 as of today, but this mama is a bit behind).

When is baby due? 

19th April 2016.

How’s baby doing?

She is now 2lbs. TWO WHOLE POUNDS. And the size of a large papaya apparently. How did that happen? When you consider some babies are born at around 6lbs, it makes me realise that she’s really big now. I’m still reading her updates every single week, and I love drinking in all the new details of her development that week. She’s so special to me and I love appreciating her.

She’s very big now. While my bump hasn’t shot up dramatically from my last update (see my 24 week pregnancy update here – sorry for such a huge gap!), I know she’s bigger. I think my body just reacted very quickly and grew to accommodate her. I feel her moving all the time now (I’ve shared a few clips on Instagram of her little wiggles as I don’t want to forget them).


Since last time, heartburn is definitely my number one nemesis. Though I’m not as grumbly about it as I should be maybe? I’m just trying to crack on with things and accept that it’s part and parcel of pregnancy!

I also suffer a lot with Charley Horses, or cramp, these days too. My legs can be so painful sometimes and it keeps me awake at night.

Other than that I’ve just been tired. But I should leave that in every update now, as it’s part of pregnancy!

In terms of general pregnancy, I’m glad to report I don’t have gestational diabetes! What a plus. I was so nervous but I’m in really good health actually! I also had a check-up with the midwife and my bloods and iron levels are great, and my belly is, believe it or not, measuring slightly less than average! I was shocked, but it’s not a cause for concern so I’m not panicking!

How I feel?

I’m good. It’s been a while since I have updated. And I’ve honestly just been taking things slowly. I seem to put a lot of pressure on myself, and after my concerns about antenatal depression before Christmas, I have really learnt my lesson and I’ve been much kinder to myself.

I know that I’m not a great blogger, or YouTuber, or probably general person some days. But I am doing my best. I’m mainly concentrating on my job, our house, and being the best mum I can be to my little guy. I don’t have much time left in this version of our lives together. And I want to do a good job, hit our maternity savings target, finish the house, and enjoy as much of Bill as I can. He’s always going to be my first baby and I want to appreciate the time we have, just us.

My favourite thing at the moment is waking up on a Sunday morning, when Mark has a lie-in, and sharing a brew and some Rich Teas with Bill as we watch cartoons. It’s our thing. And the cuddles are lovely.

I’m so excited to meet his sister, but it’s bittersweet I have to admit.

    I feel like all I have to do is look at or think about food and I get heart burn 😐 it is horrible! I'm still waiting for my GTT results as I forgot and had them at 29 weeks instead of 26-28…oops! haha fingers crossed! You're looking amazing! <3

    You're doing really well! You're such an inspiration for me at the moment. I love how calm and in control you seem! I know what you mean about meeting your first true love. When I met my husband the only way I could describe it was like finally finding home for the first time! Very soppy. Take care xx
