JORD Watch – Cora Maple & Silver

The last watch I properly used, believe it or not, was a 90’s Baby G. I used to love that thing and I wore it until the strap was grubby and then Bench pants became the next big thing and Baby Gs were so last year.

But this beauty makes my Baby G look like a toy. The JORD Cora Maple & Silver* is probably the most beautiful thing I’ve seen – it’s timeless (excuse the pun, actually, don’t, it’s great).

JORD watches are all made from wood, at least for the most part, and they are just like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

I chose the Cora Maple & Silver, which is one of the first automatic timepieces that JORD make. As well as the beautiful maple wood, it has a sapphire crystal face, with a few Swarovski crystals to mark the changes in time. I love the little circular window, that lets you see the gears in motion. You can see it on the reverse of the watch, even more clearly.

Not only did it come in a beautifully carved wooden box, but the shipping that was super fast, considering it came all the way from Chicago. And at $275 dollars, which is around £181, this is a more than fair price for a watch of this style.

I’ve had no problems with it whatsoever, when you consider its primary function of helping me tell the time, but it’s proving to be the item I reach when I want to make my outfit seem put together and little bit more polished.

Because it’s such a neutral shade, it wears well with pretty much every outfit. I especially love how it adds a little class to the shirts I love so much, while still looking pretty different when I throw on a printed sweatshirt and wear a bright colour on my lips.

So many people have asked me where it’s from and I like that it’s an unusual watch that people haven’t seen before. It’s just so different and, until I was introduced to the brand, I didn’t even realise that watches could be crafted from wood. I like that fact that every watch is unique too – as the grain of the wood will be different every time. Mine has some beautiful knots that add a little bit of colour.

Now I’ve lost a little bit more weight, I am starting to really find my sense of style again. And this watch has become a bit of a staple for me – a bit like a favourite perfume, in that, when I put it on, I feel a little bit more confident and a little bit special too!

I was thinking of sharing a few posts of how I style it, and giving a sneak peak into the sorts of outfits I wear as a 20-something mum.

*Thank you to JORD for sending me this wonderful watch to review. I’m so grateful – it’s just lovely.
