What I’ll be taking to the pool

I can say, as of Sunday, that we go on holiday this month. I’ve really not enjoyed August as a whole and I’m looking forward to see what September has in store for us. While I know I’ve got to say goodbye to Max eventually, hopefully I’ll be able to get some closure from it – and I say that knowing that it makes me sound a bit like a deranged dog lady, but you know what I mean.

I’m completely aware that a holiday with a 15 month-old will be anything but relaxing, but Ste and I have already decided that we will work in shifts and let the other have some well-deserved R&R by the pool, which the other one gets splashed to death by an excited William.

So, in hope that it all goes to plan, here’s what I’ll be taking to the poolside with me…

Freya Sunset Boulevard Rio Bikini – Since I’ve been working my arse off doing the 30 Day Shred, I’m feeling like a bikini is actually achievable. I’m so proud of myself because I remember trying on a few months back and promptly bursting into tears. Yes, my tummy is nowhere near washboard and will be forever marked with stretch marks, but I’ve a while to go yet and hopefully I’ll be there in a two-piece once more. I’m proud of my body and how it made my son, so I’m going to flaunt what I’ve got and this bikini is the perfect choice for me. It has decent cup sizes and it would look gorgeous with a tan.

Sunglasses – You have to protect your peepers in the sun and I love these oversized sunnies from River Island. I have bought so many pairs from River Island now and I love the slightly angular look of these ones and they aren’t too expensive either, so if William breaks them, I won’t be too upset.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL 50+ Extreme Fluid – I really care about protecting my skin, but sunscreen often breaks my face out, which is the last thing you need when you are going barefaced by the pool. I love La Roche-Posay in general (I bow down to Effaclar Duo) and I’ve heard good things about this product, so I’ll be picking it up from Boots when I next get paid.

Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Body Butter – I know this isn’t technically poolside material, but I had to include it as I’m desperate to try this body butter. I love making my tan last as long as possible and I love how soothing aftersun is on the skin. I’ll be picking this up at Boots too, the next time I go!

Burts Bees Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter – I love this stuff. It’s hydrating, smells nice and does the job. I’ve always got one to hand and this will be with me to keep chapped lips at bay.

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray – I know I’ll have beachy waves during the day, but I’ll need something to recreate that look at night!

Snag-Free Hair Ties – I loathe having hair in my face when I’m hot and bothered and these snag-free hair ties will keep my hair out of the way and will be gentler on it too, especially when it will be taking a beating from the sun.

My Kindle – I absolutely love to read and this will be the first time I get to take my Kindle away on holiday with me. I love the idea of having stacks of books in one handy device. I usually read a book a day on holiday so I’ll be cutting down on luggage too. I was planning on reading The Hunger Games trilogy on holiday, but I couldn’t stop myself from reading so I need some new suggestions. Please let me know if you have read anything good recently?

I've read 9 books in 3 weeks after finishing my MA! Addicted to my Kindle. I recommend the Gargoyle, the Ice Cream Girls, Me Before you, And the delirium trilogy! x

Thank you Hannah! It is, isn't it? I want it so badly, so I'm hoping I can get it when I next get paid. πŸ™‚ Tigers in Red Weather sounds like a deep and meaningful book – I'm off to Google it, thank you! πŸ™‚ xx
