Mini Washi Bunting Tutorial

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I’ve been playing around with my Dolly Mix Design starter kit and I’ve been loving making lots of pretty things for my house – the most enjoyable of which was this mini bunting made from washi tape and twine.

I love bunting. I really do. It’s in three of the rooms in my house now – our conservatory, William’s room and the family room at the front of the house. It’s even in my garden, after I couldn’t bring myself to take down William’s birthday bunting…

So if I take my love of bunting and then make it miniature, I’m clearly on to something. It’s so cute and so easy to do.

You simply take your twine (mine came in my kit, along with the tape) and leaving a few inches to tie at the end, take a piece of your chosen washi tape and fold it onto itself, with the twine in the middle. The length of the tape is up to you, though mine were roughly 3cm in length (1.5cm when folded in half).

To make the tape rectangles look like bunting I simple shaped a traditional flag shape using two snips to make a triangle, or I made a forked flag by cutting out a small triangle at the bottom of the flags instead.

Then I simply attached the bunting to my lovely Welsh dresser (which couldn’t look any more twee if it tried) and I just love it. I feel like covering my house with the stuff. So easy to make and all you need is twine, washi tape and scissors.
